An interactive music video with Malajube

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

100 mots pour la folie : 5 months in the works, 600 clips from the NFB archives, a 12 000 word glossary in constant evolution, and a semantic engine that learns and creates bonds between words you enter. Add an original soundtrack by Quebec’s indie rock legends Malajube, and you start getting what the experience is about.
A project we were delighted to be a part of, commissioned by NFB, and that’s starting to make a lot of noise (Le Devoir, Cyberpresse, Métro, Le Lien)

Analekta

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Analekta approached us a few months ago to create a series of web videos.  The objectives were twofold. Firstly, to use web videos to increase their fan base by making classical music more accessible to a younger audience. And secondly, the videos would be used to promote their artists on a national and international level.

The idea: To create 2 minute videos that capture the essence of each artist’ most recent recordings.

The challenge: To stay nimble and as invisible as possible not to disturb the artists during the recording sessions. The videos are shot, edited and uploaded the same day.

The result: Thousands of online-views and a happy client, the videos can  also be viewed on-board Air Canada flights.

The latest video is Lorraine Desmarais Big Band who will be performing at the Montreal Jazz Festival with Montreal’ gem Oliver Jones as special guest.

It has been a privilege to work with such luminaries as Angèle Dubeau, Kent Nagano, Alain Lefèvre and Matthias Maute. On a personal level, it’s quite therapeutic to be at recording sessions with such great artists.

The Good Conspiracy

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

To celebrate the 6th Edition of MTL BNL, Montreal’s Biennale under the Open Culture theme, we conspired with Amuse in order to build this good wishing machine. Anybody can conspire by sending their tweets to @inspireconspire, through the site, using SMS, or by calling the 514-933BIEN voicemail. A Twitter feed aggregates and spreads the love from all those different sources to the world. Go ahead, conspire now.

Creators of emotion

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Creators of Emotions is Ubisoft’s latest recruitment campaign and goes way out of the ordinary. The project was executed with varial+yako, and was for us a great adventure made of Flash development, video encoding, some 3D and two handfuls of challenges. We thank Turbulent for their help.

Oh, and did we mention the site has recently been awarded the Boomerang 2008 Grand Prize in Montreal? And it is featured on the FWA!

C’est Malade!

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

We recently had lots of fun with Remarquable Communications producing this project. C Malade! is a viral Flash game, inspired by the classic Operation game, to incite future med school students to apply to University of Ottawa. Many thanks to Angle Reserve for the video and illustration work. Test your surgery skills here.
